The history of Odyssesy is really all in their putters. In 1991 they released their first ever mallet putter, it came in only two sizes, big and little, the club head was moulded from a elastomer call stronomic. With its first two years the stronomic mallet putter helped a few golfers to tour wins, and Odyssey gained wide acknowledgement as a quality manufacturer with many pros.
In 1994 Odyssey introduce their Dual Force Stainless Steel range, which they engineer in a completely new way. They use a softer urethane and insert it into the cavity of the metal putter, to put the weight at the toe and join of the club. In the single year of 1996 an Odyssey putter helps golfer to twenty-six wins in all the six major tours in the world, and most importantly, it grabbed the masters, and earned its user a little green jacket.
In the year of 1997 it is voted the best golf putter manufacturer in the world. THis is not enough for the company as they go on to develop their new, now infamous, White Hot range, which they made by inserting into the metal of the head, the material that covers golf balls. This they found gave the golf club a more balanced feel, and made the ball roll truer.
In the year 2001, Odyssey released what would become the best selling golf club of all time, the Oddyssey Two Ball putter. This gave the golfer an easy job of lining up the putt, and of curse with being shown to people on the TV, sells rocketed up. It also helped that a woman golf, called Annika Sorendarn hit a round of 59 with her Odyssey putter.
By the end of 2001, Odyssey had made another giant leap in the manufacturing of putters. They began to us Carbon Steel which ensured that the club was perfectly balanced, and even easier to use. Their clear expertness in golf led them to hold near 50% of the golf putter market, and they continued to progress bring out the triple ball, and now buy-clubs.com proudly present the Odyssey White Hot XG Sabertooth, which we named number one putter of 2008 (for more information see putters, in the club type column). We strongly advice that when looking for a new putter to buy you look at our Odyssey products, believe me they won’t disappoint.
